| Photographer Fahd Sadiq Email: fahd.sadiq@gmail.com website: www.coroflot.com/fahdsadiq Cell: +92 302 8440415 Photography being an art form as well as a commercial medium of visual communication has a vast potential for versatility. Therefore defining the work of a photographer requires a clear understanding of the purpose behind his work. Having said that, we are now more appropriately equipped to appreciate the photographic endeavors of Fahd Sadiq; an experienced communication designer from Lahore, who has been busy channelizing his creative flair into the art of photo imagery for the last three years. Fahd’s work is clearly dramatic and has the aura of a theatrical performance frozen at the point of its climax. With fashion photography frequenting his portfolio more often than any other genre, the direction of his work hits home with the boldness so intensely required in portraying the creations of a fashion designer. Just as in a theatrical performance, while the subject remains under the spotlight, a profound importance nonetheless is given to the surrounding space. The infusion of such detail not only brings the crucial genuineness to the main subject but also holds testimony to Fahd’s professional eagerness. Light is no doubt a magic wand, but the real magic must always be created by the magician and in this case the photographer. How well he understands and becomes one with his tool remains no secret once the magic unfolds and the moment is there for the audience to scrutinize. In Fahd’s work the lighting gives you no time to think twice. It will either shy you away if you are not one to appreciate drama or it holds you within it for a strong doze of nostalgia leaving you with an abundance of unbound feelings. The experience requires you to view more of it in order to come to terms with it. Moving towards his product and landscape photography, we cannot help but feel the traces of the same drama. While his product photography employs the same tool of lighting to create that drama, his landscape photography is more sensitive to the intricacies of defining the right frame instead. In Fahd’s opinion handling light in landscape photography is more of a hit and trial activity which you can get a good hang of in much less time; provided you understand the omni directional daylight. So for a photographer with some experience at hand, the greater task is to carve out his own vision from within the landscape spread around him. He profoundly believes and his work speaks this subtraction method he applies to expose the various landscapes the way he envisions them. The exactness of his work is more evident in landscape photography for here he has the upper hand of a seasoned designer who not only understands but can even contribute his own rules of composition. It will not be going overboard to conclude henceforth that this is one show which must go on! |
